The best photo booth app for wedding receptions prints and bills short-term
This guide looks for three things in a reception booth: a printed strip for the guest book, an easy way for guests to get the photo on their phone, and a bill that covers one weekend. Two apps line up with all three on paper: Simple Booth and LumaBooth.
This is a reading of vendor plans and documentation dated 3 October 2026. The site has not used these apps at a wedding or anywhere else.
How the main options compare for one reception
Prices as read on 3 October 2026 and open to change. The first two are the natural starting points. The others are included because each has one feature a couple might care about.
- Simple Booth: Core is $24/week. The vendor lists photo grids, GIFs, text, email, QR, AirDrop and print. iPad only.
- LumaBooth for Apple: $19.99/month. The vendor lists a print layout designer, green screen, glam booth and a video guestbook mode, plus QR, email, SMS and AirDrop.
- Curator Live: Standard is $29 for a single event, with branded microsites and emails.
- Breeze Booth: $49/month per device. Lists printing to AirPrint compatible printers and an audio guest book.
- Snappic: Starter is $69/month with stills, GIFs and boomerangs, and AirPrint listed.
Prints, props and backdrops
Prints need an app that prints and a printer it supports. The vendors above do not name printer models on the pages read, so check before buying one. Simple Booth describes printing through a print server, and Breeze Booth and Snappic list AirPrint. The iPad printing app guide sets out how each vendor describes its printer connection.
Physical props need no software support at all. A box of signs and hats works with any app. Digital props or stickers were not confirmed on the vendor pages read, so do not assume them. If you want a virtual backdrop, LumaBooth lists green screen. A real backdrop behind the guests avoids the question.
Where MoveBooth fits a wedding and where it does not
MoveBooth is not built for this. It has no printing or print layouts, no green screen and no background replacement of any kind. Its image styles stop at normal, black and white, and a 3D glitch look. The lowest plan is $49.99/month, more than double LumaBooth's monthly price.
There are a few points in its favor for a couple who only want digital photos. Every plan includes stills, GIFs and boomerangs with email and SMS delivery. The vendor lists built-in templates for unbranded or personal events. Each event gets an online gallery that can be password protected. MoveBooth also rents a kit with an iPad pre-installed from $399/day on the Lite tier, with shipping extra, 10 days advance booking and delivery to the lower 48 US states only.
For most receptions the other apps are a closer match. The MoveBooth and LumaBooth comparison shows the gap feature by feature.
Free options for a wedding
A free trial is useful for a rehearsal but risky for the day. Simple Booth's trial caps uploads at 15 photos per day, and its pricing page suggests a weekly plan for events. Breeze Booth's trial watermarks output. Curator Live offers a 14 day trial without a watermark, which is worth reading the terms on. LumaBooth's free trial needs no credit card, though its length is not stated. Given that paid short-term plans start at $15 to $29, paying for the week removes the risk.
A short plan for the day
Choose the app at least two weeks ahead. Design the template with names and date. Test prints and sharing at home. Ask the venue about Wi-Fi and power near the booth. Give one person the job of checking paper and battery during the evening. Keep a fallback in mind if the printer jams: each app named here can still send photos digitally. The step-by-step iPad booth setup covers the equipment and order of work.
