Photo booth lead capture software: what to check before you buy

Photo booth lead capture software explained: how booths collect emails and phone numbers, which plans include it, and what consent and export to check.

Last materially reviewed 2026-10-03

Quick answerPhoto booth lead capture software asks each guest for contact details before it sends their photo. Check three things first: which plan includes the form, what consent wording you can add, and how the data leaves the app. MoveBooth documents lead capture from its Plus plan, with CSV export only.

What photo booth lead capture software does

Photo booth lead capture software puts a short form between the photo and its delivery. The guest takes a picture, types a name plus an email address or phone number, and the app sends the photo to that address. The brand running the booth ends up with a contact list tied to the event.

The photo is the reason people fill in the form. That is the whole idea, and it is also why the rules about consent and follow-up email matter. A guest who typed an address to get a picture has not automatically asked for a newsletter.

This site has not used any of these apps hands-on. Everything below comes from vendor pages read on 3 October 2026.

Which apps document lead capture, and on which plan

Data capture is rarely on the cheapest tier. Prices are as read on 3 October 2026 and can change.

  • MoveBooth: iPad only. No lead capture on Lite ($49.99/month). Plus ($149.99/month) collects name, email and phone. Pro ($249.99/month) adds ZIP code and date of birth.
  • Simple Booth: iPad only. Data capture forms, Mailchimp and API access start at Pro ($149/month).
  • Fiesta: data collection (phone and email) is on Pro only ($119/month, or $99/month billed annually).
  • Breeze Booth: iPad and iPhone, $49/month or $499/year per device. Its page lists surveys and CSV or XML data export.
  • Darkroom Booth: Windows only, $295 one-time. Its product page lists built-in surveys, quizzes and data collection.
  • Touchpix: surveys start at MultiPass Pro ($70.40/month, billed annually).
  • Booth.Events: lists CSV export of guest emails and phones, with surveys on Pro and Pro+. Its prices could not be read today.
  • Foto Master: lists surveys and data collection, with webhooks on its Cloud Pro plan.
  • Snappic: Apple devices. Custom surveys and data capture start at Business ($189/month).

Consent and email rules to check before the event

In the United States, the Federal Trade Commission's business guide to the CAN-SPAM Act covers commercial email. The guide says the law makes no exception for business-to-business email, so trade-show follow-up is covered like any other marketing message.

The guide lists requirements that include accurate header and subject lines, identifying the message as an ad, including a valid physical postal address, giving a clear way to opt out, and honoring opt-out requests within 10 business days. It also says you stay responsible when another company sends email on your behalf.

For booth software, that turns into practical questions. Can you add your own consent wording to the form? Can a marketing opt-in be a separate checkbox from photo delivery? Does the export record when each person agreed? Text messages and guests from outside the United States fall under other rules that this page does not cover. This is general information, not legal advice. Ask your own counsel before you email a list.

Export: CSV file or a live connection

There are two ways contacts leave a booth app. A CSV file is downloaded after the event and imported by hand into a CRM or email tool. A live connection, such as an API, webhook or named integration, pushes each contact across without a manual step.

A CSV is fine for a few events a year. It becomes a chore when sales staff expect leads in the CRM the same day, or when several booths run at once. If you need a live connection, the pages read point to Simple Booth Pro (Mailchimp and API), Snappic (webhooks, a paid add-on on Business) and Foto Master Cloud Pro (webhooks). See MoveBooth compared with Simple Booth for that trade-off.

What MoveBooth documents for lead capture, and its limits

MoveBooth describes itself as an iPad photo booth for event lead capture. On Plus and Pro, fields can be set as required or optional, and Pro allows custom terms text in the share form. The FAQ also says custom form fields and consent checkboxes can be added, but the plan comparison table does not show which plan includes them. Ask the vendor before you rely on that.

The limits are plain. MoveBooth has no native CRM or API integrations at any tier and no Zapier integration. Leads leave as a CSV download on Plus and Pro. The help center says the file contains name, email, phone if collected, channel name and an opt-in timestamp. The vendor says it does not sell guest contact data and claims no formal GDPR certification. No independent reviews of MoveBooth were found. More detail is on the MoveBooth lead capture page.

How to choose

Start with the hardware you own, then the export you need, then the price of the plan that actually includes the form.

  • iPad at a brand event, manual import is acceptable: MoveBooth Plus fits. Check MoveBooth plan prices first.
  • Leads must flow into Mailchimp or through an API: look at Simple Booth Pro.
  • Windows laptop and a DSLR: Darkroom Booth documents data collection. MoveBooth does not run on Windows.
  • Printed photos, 360 video or green screen alongside the form: pick another app. MoveBooth lists none of these.
  • Working a show floor: read the trade show booth guide next.
