How to use MoveBooth: the steps in order
Using MoveBooth comes down to six steps, taken from the vendor's FAQ and help center as read on 3 October 2026. This site has not run the app, so this is the documented process, not a tested one.
- Step 1: get the app through a TestFlight install link
- Step 2: create a channel for the event in the online dashboard
- Step 3: choose the capture mode and image style
- Step 4: log in on the iPad
- Step 5: accept the startup permission prompts
- Step 6: assemble the stand, mount the iPad and run a test session
Step 1: install the app from the TestFlight link
The app is privately distributed through Apple's TestFlight system, not the public App Store. Ask the MoveBooth team for an install link through the Contact page. Install TestFlight on the iPad, then install the MoveBooth app from the link. An active software license is required to use it.
Do this well before event day. TestFlight builds can expire, and the fix is a manual update over Wi-Fi, which is easier at the office than at a venue.
Steps 2 and 3: build the channel in the dashboard
A channel is MoveBooth's word for an event. Log in to the online dashboard and click New Channel. The setup runs through basic info, branding, photo settings, sharing, messaging and terms, then Save and Finish.
In the photo settings, choose the capture mode and image style. The styles are normal, black and white, or 3D glitch. A channel holds a single capture mode, so if you want stills at one point and GIFs at another, make a channel for each. Branding covers the start screen, app background, overlay and gallery. Lite allows a logo and one image overlay, while Plus and Pro let guests pick from unlimited overlays. If you upload an overlay, the help center says it must be a PNG exactly 960 pixels wide by 1280 tall. On Plus and Pro, the lead form fields are also managed from the dashboard; see how the lead form works.
Steps 4 and 5: log in on the iPad and allow access
Verify your account email first, because the help center says it must be verified before the iPad login. Then log in with email and password, or scan a one-time QR login code. On first launch, accept each of the startup prompts, such as camera access. The help center warns that the app cannot function without them.
Step 6: set up the stand and run a test session
With MoveBooth's own kiosk, the vendor claims assembly takes 5 minutes: assemble the stand, mount the head, place the iPad, connect power and launch the app. You can also use your own stand or mount with any iPad. For lighting and placement advice that applies to any app, see setting up an iPad photo booth.
The FAQ says you can run a test session on any compatible iPad to preview the guest experience. Send yourself a photo by email and by text, and open the channel's gallery page to check the branding.
Running the booth on event day
To change channels on the iPad, triple-tap with one finger in the very bottom-left corner of the start screen. Switching needs working internet, so load the right channel before doors open if the venue Wi-Fi is doubtful.
Offline mode keeps capturing and queues delivery until the connection returns, but the help center says the booth must have been online before the drop. After the event, bulk-download photos from the gallery and, on Plus or Pro, download leads as CSV.
A license supports one active iPad booth at a time, so two booths running at once need two plans.
One limitation to plan around: MoveBooth does not print. If guests will expect a print, read iPad booth apps with printer support before you commit.
