The best photo booth software starts with your device
Platform is the first filter. Some programs run only on Windows with a tethered camera. Some run only on Apple devices. A few cover everything. Once you know your device and camera, the field drops from ten names to two or three.
Camera choice sits right beside it. A tethered DSLR or mirrorless camera points to Windows software, or to the few Apple apps that list DSLR support, such as Snappic and Curator Live. A booth that uses the tablet's own camera opens up the iPad apps.
After that, sort by what guests receive (prints, digital shares, 360 clips) and by how you want to pay.
The selection basis for this shortlist
Ten products were compared using each vendor's published pricing and product pages, read on 3 October 2026. The site did not install or run any of them, and it did not rank by review scores. Independent review coverage found for this guide was thin. For example, no independent reviews of MoveBooth were found at all.
So read the picks below as a match between stated features and common needs. A free trial on your own equipment is the real test. One product, Fiesta, does not state its supported platforms on its pricing page, so it is left out of the device picks below.
Picks for Windows and DSLR booths
License and plan prices as read on 3 October 2026, subject to change.
- Darkroom Booth: $295 one-time with a year of updates and support, then an optional $95/year. Windows only. Lists tethered DSLR, webcam and GoPro, plus green screen and 360.
- LumaBooth for Windows (formerly dslrBooth): $17/month billed annually or $49.99/month, two devices included. Lists Canon, Nikon, Sony, GoPro and webcam.
- Breeze Remote Pro: $349 per license, one-time, with 12 months of updates. Its page lists Canon cameras and webcams.
- Foto Master FMX for Windows: $33/month per device billed annually, plus a required Foto Master Cloud plan.
Picks for iPad, Android and mixed fleets
The iPad field is wider and mostly subscription-based. The bullets list the Apple options.
For mixed fleets, Touchpix lists iOS, Android, macOS, Windows and Linux under one license, from $22/month billed annually for PhotoPass. That entry plan has no video, slow motion or boomerang, so a 360 booth needs MultiPass at $44/month billed annually. LumaBooth also sells an Android version at $19.99/month. The Snappic and LumaBooth comparison is useful if you are choosing between an Apple-only tool and a cross-platform one.
- LumaBooth for Apple: $19.99/month. Widest stated mode list at the lowest stated price.
- Simple Booth: iPad only, with weekly billing from $15/week for occasional use.
- Snappic: Apple only, from $69/month. Video, AI and 360 begin at Business for $189/month.
- Breeze Booth: $49/month per device for iPad and iPhone.
- Curator Live: iPad and iPhone, with per-event pricing from $29.
- MoveBooth: iPad only, from $49.99/month. Lead capture from Plus at $149.99/month.
Where MoveBooth belongs on this list
MoveBooth is a narrow tool. It describes itself as iPad-only software built for B2B lead generation, and its plans are organized around collecting contacts and exporting them as CSV.
It is the wrong choice for a Windows or DSLR booth, for printing, and for 360 or green screen work. Its own comparison page lists those as unsupported. It is distributed through TestFlight instead of the public App Store. For a brand activation or trade show where an iPad and a contact list are the whole brief, it is a fair candidate to trial. Its 7-day trial requires a payment method, so set a reminder if you only want to look.
Next steps after the shortlist
Write down three facts about your own setup: the device, the camera, and whether guests get prints. Those three answers remove most of the list. Then compare total cost, not just the headline rate, using the photo booth software cost breakdown. If you run bookings as a business, the software guide for booth businesses looks at licensing for more than one booth. iPad owners can go straight to the iPad software shortlist.
